Jump 24v Marsham Street London 8 Bells Georgian Bracket Clock

Description

A fine quality and impressive Georgian Regency period fusee, 8-bell bracket/table clock. A pagoda top pediment mahogany case of good proportions and colour. Fretwork to the pagoda base with an original set of brass ball finials. Brass capped fluted side columns and standing on brass ball feet. Side sound fretwork and lions head handles. An engraved bezel surrounding the dial face with convex glass. A convex painted dial signed 'JUMP 24 MARSHAM STREET WESTMINSTER' (London). Blued steel 'moon' hands . An 8-day duration triple fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell and quarters on 8 bells. A well engraved floral backplate to the mechanism and engraved pendulum. A transportation pendulum lock. Circa 1825.

The Jump family of clockmakers in London are recorded in Baillies "Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World" as working from 1803. They are noted makers and Richard was an apprentice of the Royal Clockmaker Vulliamy. They worked at Pall Mall and Marsham Street is nearby.
