William Tasker of Banbury Wheel Barometer

19th century
Description

A William IV period mercury wheel barometer. A slim mahogany case of good proportions with a swan neck top pediment. A tapered case with a stepped base moulding. Choice flame mahogany veneers. Silvered dials to the hygrometer, thermometer and level. A well engraved main dial. Signed to the level 'W Tasker, Banbury. Circa 1835.

William Tasker of Banbury is listed in Banfields' Barometer Makers and Retailers book as working from 1813 -1853 in the High Street.
