Antique English Zebrano Stationery Box with Polished Brass Mounts

Description

Dating to around 1860, this stunning box was created from the most exquisite and highly decorative piece of timber. Zebrano also known as zebrawood and zingana, is a golden-colored hardwood with thin stripes of dark chocolate brown and black.

This exotic wood (whose striping pattern somewhat resembles a zebra) with it's lustrous surface, durability and grain pattern make it a popular choice in modern design and a true fashion statement in the 21st century.

The exterior is enhanced with beautiful polished brass mounts, having been professionally re-polished to gleam.

The interior has been re-lined in a hand-marbled paper, creating a wonderful clean interior.

A striking desk-top box for the discerning. Excellent condition measuring 9" x 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" tall. Complete with working tasselled key.
