An interesting and finely made 19th century rosewood armchair, with scroll arms and back, turned spindle arm supports, on William IV style legs with brass castors. The back probably originally reclined, as with the Webb chairs, and now the arms have been shortened at the back and the back has been fixed in place.
The chair to all intents and purposes looks William IV in appearance, but is strikingly similar to early designs by Philip Webb for Morris & Co, and probably dates to c.1865-70.
Condition:
In good, ready to use condition, very solid with no issues or damage. Probably reclined originally but the back is now fixed.
Dimensions:
98 cm high x 53 cm wide x 80 cm deep (seat height 39 cm)
