An interesting and sculptural Liberty & Co relic, used for printing on to silk, and according the the piece of paper with it, from Merton Abbey, where Liberty moved in 1904. This block, therefore was either taken to Merton Abbey from Liberty’s old premises, or it dates to post 1904.
Carved wood end grain for the pattern, with inset handles on the back and a painted number L1842 on one side.
Comes with a piece of paper describing the object’s history.
