A Late Regency, English Drop-dial Fusee Wall Clock In A Brass Inlaid Mahogany Case Bowed Dial By Thomas Lindey Of Bristol. Circa 1830.
Status:This item has been sold Sold by:M. C. Taylor
This is a good example of a drop-dial wall clock in good condition.
The eight day duration fusee timepiece movement with Anchor Recoil escapement, knopped pillars and shouldered plates.
Behind a 12'' diameter, bowed, painted iron dial fitted to the movement via a false-dial. The cream coloured background has black inking of outer minute track and Roman hour numerals also, the centre bearing the maker''s signature of ''LINDEY, BRISTOL''. Both of the blued steel hands are of matching ''spade'' style.
Contained in a mahogany drop trunk case with a convex turned, one-piece dial surround with a hinged, cast brass bezel with bowed glass. The flame veneered trunk has brass inlay and fan ears. This is separated from the curve bottom with a brass strung, flat ebony moulding. The bottom section has a curved and cockbeaded locking door. The sides are plain with an access door to the left. The appearance of this clock is greatly enhanced due to its longer than usual trunk.
The dial has... been previously restored and also the case but this now shows slight signs of damage. The condition of the movement has had poor repair work carried out on it but it is in working condition and keeps time. It would greatly benefit from an overhaul.
Any work the purchaser wishes to be carried out can be discussed upon enquiry.
It''s retail restored value is approximately £4000.
The price is for the clock in it''s present working condition.
