Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
With its stylish original cup handle the fall drops down to reveal pigeon holes to the interior. Below the fall are two open bookshelves and it stands on shaped bracket feet. A nice sized bureau, in beautifully figured solid oak, it would work well in a hall or living room as an occasional desk. The fall locks and comes with working key.

Founded in 1840, Harris Lebus was a furniture manufacturer and wholesaler based in the East End of London in Tabernacle Street with a factory in Tottenham. The firm supplied stores such as Maple & Co., mainly producing bedroom and dining furniture. This piece of furniture is catalogue No 900b and the registration No is 417139.
