A 19th century large gilt overmantle mirror. Retaining its original bevelled mirror plate. This massive antique Victorian giltwood overmantle mirror is carved from solid wood and is far superior to its composition (plaster) counterparts which were produced in the thousands from moulds. Each carved wood mirror is unique and will not allow the gilt to break off through the ingress of moisture. The whole is carved and turned in solid wood and retains its original water gilding in 24ct gold leaf ans hasn''t been overpainted in gold paint. Circa 1880. Measures 63”w x 75”h x 3”d. Excellent condition
