This is an antique carved correspondence desk with hidden drawer. A Scottish, oak writing table, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1860.

Superior quality desk with delightfully figured stocks and Gothic revival overtones

Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order

Select oak shows fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays

Rich caramel hues beam beneath the wax polish finish

Low back rest adorned with carved winged motif

Upper console arranged with five drawers around a laptop friendly recess

Writing surface decorated with leaf carved pattern edge

Accessed by blind pulls, the writing surface extends by 9cm (3.5), with comfortable working height of 80.5cm (31.75")

Desk base offers four drawers, each dressed with a circular pull

Central desk dressed with an inset brass lined lock — key absent

Right-hand drawer replete with concealed compartment to rear of box
