Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It stands on beautifully turned legs capped with original brass casters. A well-proportioned piece, it is a good size, with plenty of wear and character to it.

It is solid and sturdy. Lots of wear to the top: the writing surface has some scuffs and is worn and lifting in places. Some veneer missing to top (see photo) and a few old splits to top in places (solid). One of the knob handles is missing a collar. Other Wear and marks commensurate with age.
