Description

This remarkable carpet, with its fabulous madder-red ground, was made by the Ersary Turkmen in the Beshir area of the Middle Amu Darya Region, Turkmenistan, circa 1850 or possibly earlier.

This is one of the most unusual Ersary main carpets I've come across with a field comprising a rare design of flowers - typical of the design found only on the chuvals of the Beshir Ersary.

In excellent pile throughout with several tiny expertly done repairs, this carpet must rank as one of the best of this group and highly collectible.
