Description

This large, handsome salt-bag (namakdan) was made by the Amaleh tribe of the Qashqa'i Confederacy circa 1900. It is woven on both sides in plain-weave technique with small tufts of knotted-pile on the front-face symbolising good-luck. An unusual feature is the top of the neck which incorporates the ties and lappits - not often found on salt-bags. The bag is in excellent complete condition.
