Description

Very handsome French mahogany Louis XVI style ‘Bureau Plat’ writing desk c.1930. 51" x 25½" top with a 14" leaf sliding out from each end. Red leather worktops with tooled and gilded detail and brass mouldings to the edge of the main table. Over four drawers (the left hand drawer being double depth) with laurel wreath escutcheons and brass mouldings, all repeated as dummy drawer fronts on the rear of the desk. Canted corners with reeded detail, tapering square legs with brass mounts to the feet. Oak drawer linings, quality brass locks with the original keys for each. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
