Antique Mahogany Double Fusee Bracket Clock by Robert Roskell & Son Liverpool

18th century
Description

Antique Mahogany Double Fusee Bracket Clock By Robert Roskell & Son Liverpool.

This beautiful antique bracket clock has a mahogany case with a stunning triangular top with a moulding to the front and sides of the top edge. The body of the case then has fantastic brass inlay to the front as well as two brass fretwork panels to the sides backed with material. The sides also have two lovely shaped brass handles. The back of the case then has a brass panel in the door so that the movement can be seen. Finally the bottom edge has a further shaped moulding leading to the base which is finished by four, round brass feet.

The dial is then painted and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The centre of the dial is then signed by the maker “Robert Roskell & Son Liverpool” and has two wonderful, shaped hands. The dial then has a small lever to the top marked “Strike Silent” so that the chimes can be turned on or off. Finally the dial has a protective bevelled glass set into a brass bezel.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed via the back. It ticks away as it should and chimes the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past via a bell. It comes complete with its regulating pendulum, winding key, and travel nut. The movement is of the upmost quality being that it is a double, chain fusee example. Finally the movement is signed, like the dial by Robert Roskell & Son Liverpool via an engraving.

Both back and front doors are complete with working locks and a key.

This fantastic clock is of the upmost quality and would make a fantastic addition to any home or collection!

Due to its delicate nature it is being listed for collection in person although delivery can be arranged via myself or one of our expert couriers, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a quote!

Robert Roskell was based at 21 Church Street, Liverpool and also maintained premises in London.
