A Pair of Bronze Plaques of Napoleon and Marie-louise C1813

Description

This stately pair of round plaques of the Emperor Napoleon and the Archduchess Marie-Louise are based on the official ones by Bertrand Andrieu. The plaques were issued by the Paris Mint between 1810-1813 to commenorate

the Imperial marriage. They show the Archduchess Marie-Louise wearing a diadem and Napoleon with a crown of laurel leaves.

Similar plaques can be found in important museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) also the British Royal Collection (London - V & A).

There are some surface marks and signs of wear on both plaques.
