An amazing condition original server sideboard.
The sideboard features a breakfront with Ebony broad-banded edge and Boxwood and Ebony inlays and stringing throughout its design. This sideboard also features an arched central section below the large centre drawer to house a cellarette to the right hand side and a dummy drawer cupboard to the left whilst retaining a symmetrical curved drawer appearance. This fine server sideboard has the most beautiful flame grain Mahogany to the frontage and stands on its lovely Regency Tulip turned legs
This sideboard is in an outstanding original condition featuring its original beautiful lightly faded french polished finish with a lovely rich mahogany colour. The sideboard also features fine quality polished solid brass round brass dropper handles (later addition would have had turned knobs originally) and brass keyhole escutcheons in front of its original working brass locks which all work with original key. The cupboard on the left has an unusual locking system of a brass pin which is removed only by removing the drawer above with a dummy lock to confuse. This quirky arrangement is quite unusual and can be left with the pin out if no locking is required but does work well as a child lock. The finely dovetailed oak sided drawers are smoothly operating with little to no drawer wear and are clean inside.
We have just carefully cleaned and waxed this sideboard, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.
Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece. Also note this item has some evidence of historic woodworm which is no longer active and does not effect the structure of the item.
