A late 18th century Hepplewhite period mahogany secretaire bookcase, the straight cornice above glazed doors retaining the original glass and decorated with ovals, the astragal bars with contrast inlay, the central secretaire drawer with cast lion''s mask and ring handle, flanked by two doors that open to reveal deep drawers faced in mahogany with gilt brass handles, all with highly figured oval veneers with contrast ebony stringing, the secretaire fitted with pigeon holes with ogee fretwork and drawers, both veneered in satinwood with further ebony decoration, the doors to the cabinet with projecting roundels of richly figured veneer set against quarter-veneered surrounds, fitted with four linen shelves, on shaped apron and splayed feet with ebony inlay.
