Aramis Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
Within that are at least 10 different colour bands to frame the central scene of a nobleman, carrying a spear, riding his gaily caparisoned trotting elephant. His manservant rides pillion, waving a white plume. The background suggests a desert like landscape, with some ground foliage. Though the picture is overall quite large (see dimensions) it is painted in the style of Mughal miniature painting, an unchanged style for centuries.

The frame and back are original, never opened up, and these give me a better idea of age.
This is a very striking, decorative and colourful picture.
There are some unavoidable reflections in the photos due to the glazing. These are not present on the image.
