Victorian English Sterling Silver Letter Opener with Magnifying Glass - Enamel Shamrock

Description

A wonderful and unusual find, this antique desk accessory is made from English sterling silver hallmarked on the reverse for London 1898, a true Victorian piece. The makers initials are also present JMB for the silversmith John Millward Banks, who had retail premises in the heart of London's West End.

The front has a beautiful shamrock or four leaf clover (good luck) decorated in vibrant green guilloche enamel which remains undamaged.

The letter opener acts as a handle to utilize the magnifying glass which has an excellent magnification, beautifully clear and very usable over 110 years later.

Excellent condition, measuring 5 5/8" in length.
