Rare Exeter Antique Sterling Silver Visiting Card Case - 1880

Description

Wonderful to find a card case assayed at the highly sought-after Exeter office in the year 1880, three years before this assay office was closed.

The case is highly decorative with all over decoration surrounding a diamond shaped cartouche either side, both are vacant and could be personalized by your silversmith should you wished.

The hinge works well and reveals the full hallmark including Queen Victoria's head mark and the makers mark J W into two circles for J. Wilmot.

A rare piece of highly collectible silver in excellent condition, measuring 3 3/4" x 2 3/4".
