George III Carved Giltwood Chippendale Period Mirror

An early George III carved giltwood mirror in the manner of Thomas Johnson, circa 1760.The original age distressed mercury mirror plate within a Rococo inspired frame, is headed by a basket of flowers above delicately carved upper C-scroll corners are pierced and surmounted by a further scroll which seamlessly flows into the pediment of C-scrolls, the ornate rocaile work continues with C & S scrolls down to pierced double C-scroll apron. The gilding is original and the mirror is in exceptional condition for its age , including all original backing.
