Description

A superb example of an early welsh lovespoon with the rarer double bowl configuration; carved from a single piece of plum-wood, intricate chip carved decoration throughout, upper central large heart & 2 smaller pierced carved into the spoon stem with centre star/flower . The piece initialled 'a-w' likely denoting the intended love interest. Pieces such as this were traditionally folk art pieces made by working class people to give as gifts to their loved ones.general usage wear ,minor chips as per photo , stunning rich colour and patination. Bought from a private estate in north wales.
