Description

An exceptional and rare early twentieth century (c.1900 / 1910) tea caddy in an Octagonal shape and completely hand painted with various scenes of adorable kittens, I have only ever seen one other of these similar many, many years ago.

The front panel is of three kittens sitting on a swing, the top panel with two kittens looking out of a circular basket, the right-hand side of a kitten in a small cart and the left-hand panel with a kitten in a handled basket.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a lidded compartment lined in the silver paper which was used to line such caddies.

Excellent condition with a good glossy patina, measuring 5" tall x 4 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep.
