N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This lovely antique clock has an oak case with a lovely rich colour and architectural design.
The body of the case is then square with carved, reeded, corinthian columns flanking each side of the dial. There is then a further moulding to the base with another “brick” designed section. Finally there is a moulding leading to the stepped out base.
The dial is then brass and with a silvered chapter ring set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes and every five minutes being marked in Arabic numerals. The centre of the dial then has a lovely pitted effect with each corner having a nice “angles head” spandril. The bottom of the chapter ring is then signed by the retailer “RUSSELS LTD LIVERPOOL”. The dial is then finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a bevelled glass set into the brass door.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is ticking away and chiming as it should and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key. The movement strikes one “ting tang” on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to, and the number of hours on the hour via two gongs. The movement is then stamped “W&H 0” to show that the clock was made by the famous German maker Winterhalder & Hofmeier.

12.25” / 31cm Wide.
7.5” / 19cm Deep.
