Description:
Originating from the Channel Islands, the chest boasts a curved pediment, with flame mahogany cross-banding and satinwood & ebony string inlay, above a graduated eight-drawer configuration. The chest consists of two halves with a moulded waist to the base section. The top section is narrower than the bottom section, with a proportionately balanced waist. The top section comprises five drawers in a two-over-three arrangement. The base section holds a further three drawers. The drawers are pine lined, constructed with hand dovetail joints and finished with cock beaded fronts. They also retain their original working locks, with working key, and feature the original curved brass handles on oval escutcheons. The bottom section is finished with a simple curved apron, terminating on its original splayed bracket feet. The chest retains its original backboards. The item is a three-piece chest; it dismantles into three sections for easy transport and access into the house. This is an ideal item for the bedroom or landing as it provides significant storage space for clothes.

Condition Report:
This Regency mahogany chest on chest is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frame, sides and drawer bottoms, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chest on chest has been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore, the finish, colour and patination is excellent. The original pine lined drawers are constructed with quality hand dovetail joints, around a cock-beaded drawer frame. The drawer fronts boast the original curved brass handles and oval backplates. The drawers close flush to the frame and retain their original working locks (with key). The chest stands on its original bracket feet and incorporates the original backboards. The chest is well constructed, solid in joint, does not wobble and is ready to be used.
