The chest consists of two halves with a moulded waist to the base section. The top section is narrower than the bottom section, with a proportionately balanced waist. The top section comprises five drawers in a two-over-three arrangement. The base section holds a further three drawers. The drawers are pine lined, constructed with hand dovetail joints and finished with cock beaded fronts. They also retain their original working locks, with working key, and feature the original curved brass handles on oval escutcheons. The bottom section is finished with a simple curved apron, terminating on its original splayed bracket feet. The chest retains its original backboards.
