This is a rare very early Cream Jug in a rare shape, hand painted in the large stamen flower pattern, made by Mason's Ironstone, Lane Delph, England and dating to circa 1813-1820.
The pattern is hand painted with typical bold free flowing enamels of cobalt blue, blue, green and burnt orange, all in varying shades and with additional hand gilded highlights. This pattern is one of Mason's earliest and rarest chinoiserie influenced designs called "Large Stamen Flower", as illustrated on page 138 of a guide to Mason's patent ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club.
It is un marked to the base as was often the case in this period but this jug is definitely by Mason's
Internal Ref: P 1843
