Rare Oxford Lavender "Attar" Polychrome Scent Bottle, Circa 1850

Description

This is a very pretty gilt and enamelled glass attar perfume bottle. These type of scent bottles are also known as an Oxford Lavender or Throwaway , as they were sold containing a sample of perfume and were intended to be thrown away after use. This particular one is a more unusual enamelled example.

Each side sides heightened with naive enamel fruit and floral decorations heightened in gilt.

Fitted with the original gilt glass stopper.

Dimensions:

Length: 19.5cm / 7.6 inches

Width: 1.5cm x 1.5cm / 0.5 inches x 0.5 inches.

Condition:

Very good.

No damage to glass.
