8 Day, Golden Oak Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

An 8 Day Longcase clock dating from around 1830 and made by J. Jukes of Birmingham.

The arched, painted dial is in nice order and depicts a lady harpist and her dog in the lunnet.

The clock has just been fully overhauled and serviced by a registered member of the British Horological Institute. It ticks beautifully, strikes the hours on a bell and keeps perfect time.

There is a subsiduary seconds dial and a working date ring.

The golden oak case has mahogany canted corners with box inlay and the door has an ebony banding. There is also mahogany to the hood.

The clock is nicely polished with a warm, rich patina.

It is very nicely proportioned and measures only 84" in height.
