Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian burr walnut cabinet is a nineteenth-century storage piece constructed using timber cut from the abnormal growth, or burl, of a walnut tree. These pieces are characterised by intricate, swirling grain patterns and were frequently designed with multiple small drawers or enclosed cupboards for storing documents and collections.

Cabinetmakers during the Victorian era typically constructed the main structural frame from solid timbers such as oak, pine, or mahogany, applying thin cuts of decorative burr walnut veneer to the outer surfaces. Drawers were commonly lined with solid pine or mahogany and finished with turned wooden or cast brass hardware.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints inside the drawer boxes, uneven natural oxidisation on the timber underside, and original lock mechanisms. The burr walnut veneer should exhibit subtle depth and variation rather than uniform, modern printed patterns.

Place the cabinet as a focal point against neutral or dark moody walls to highlight the warmth of the wood grain. The compact proportions and organized drawer layout make it ideal for use in a home office, hallway, or living room setting.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent the natural veneer from drying out or fading. Maintain the finish by regularly applying a natural beeswax polish along the direction of the grain using a soft cotton cloth.
