Description

Superb French burr elm and marble top chest of drawers or commode c.1850. Original inch-thick marble top with particularly good figuring over four long drawers. Pale burr elm veneers with beautiful grain arranged in a symmetrical pattern across the drawer fronts and continued on the sides. Shallow top drawer with internal dividers and a shaped front, also continued on the sides of the cabinet. The three deeper drawers with original gilded escutcheons and original locks. Moulded front corners with contrasting mahogany beading, moulded plinth and original turned bun feet front and rear. Oak drawer linings. Excellent colour and condition, with some repairs to the veneers, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
