Adjustable Height Oil Lamp by Benziger New York

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1910-20 a brass and copper adjustable height oil lamp in good condition with a 'night and day' original glass shade.

On the base is the mark Benziger Bros and underneath - Maker, New York. Inside the wick area is the registered no: 65891 dating the lamp to around 1917. The wick mechanism marked Hinks No 2 Duplex.

The lamp at normal height to the top of the shade is 74cm, fully extended it is over 90cm; the base is 16cm in diameter as is the diameter of the copper basket holding the oil lamp.

The Night and Day glass shade is original, and so called because of the opaque top half and clear glass underneath.
