Large 19th Century British School Oil on Canvas Signed J Alvero

Of imposing size this well painted scene of an audience with a Puritan has a complex composition dating to the late 19th Century / Early 20th Century circa 1890-1910 signed J Alvero. All eyes are certainly drawn to the gentleman in black dress as to what he has to say reading from script in hand. The women of obvious wealth and highly regarded in the Victorian period due to their exquisite dresses worn.

Very well painted with fine detail and in the original crisply carved gilt frame.
