Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the early 20th century, metalwork from the Edwardian era often drew inspiration from Classical, Neoclassical, and Georgian proportions. Candlesticks from this period typically feature architectural motifs such as fluted columns, stepped pedestals, and two-tone metal combinations like polished brass with patinated bronze.

These pieces were commonly constructed using cast bronze components paired with turned brass fittings. Elements were machined or cast separately, then joined together using threaded internal iron or brass rods to create a solid, weighted structure.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including subtle surface wear, natural oxidisation in crevices, and minor irregularities from historical manufacturing methods. Threaded internal rods, weighted cast bases, and unpolished original patination further indicate period authenticity.

A pair of metal candlesticks can be arranged symmetrically on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or formal dining table to add vertical interest and architectural form. Mixing patinated metal finishes with modern ceramic or timber elements creates balance within mixed-era decor schemes.

Dust metal surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to prevent build-up. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip historical patina, and remove residual candle wax by gently warming the area with a hairdryer rather than scraping.
