~ French - Circa 1890 ~~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~A stunning original antique French clock by the illustrious maker Charles Hour. It is of the beautifully restrained Empire design in a sumptuous green variegated specimen marble and ormolu (finely gilded bronze). To the top is a beautifully modelled spread eagle. The case is glazed with beveled glass to four sides to allow the mercury compensated pendulum to be seen gently swinging.The dial is porcelain enamel with it''s original blued steel Breguet hands.The French movement is of high quality and is by Charles Hour. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original, we have replaced the mercury with silver steel for safety. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a sonorous gong.
