Description

This is a wonderful boxed travelling desk set comprising lockdown inkwell, wafer box, go to bed/vesta, penwipe.

All the silver gilt decorated to the tops with the family crest and motto for Baron Redesdale, the paternal grandfather of the Mitford sisters.

The penwipe is dated London 1836 the other 3 items dated London 1875, all four items made by Frances Douglas.

All have glass bases, 3 with star cut to base, the travelling inkwell has a plain base. There is one very minor chip to one corner of the go to bed/vesta.

Box measures L 21 cm W 5.5 H 4.5 cm

Each of the items measures 4 x 4 cm H 3.5 cm
