Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Also engraved is C.U.S.C (I presume Cambridge University Sports Club) then "200 Yds Race 100 Yds Handicap / May Term / Won by S.H. Whately / 1885".

Outside of this cartouche, the lid is beautifully decorated with Oak leaves and acorns together with a butterfly each side.
The silver plated fittings are beautiful including four bun feet, a swing handle to each side and an escutcheon to the front (alas, no key).

The interior has the original two oak lids covering the two tea compartments, one for green tea, the other for black tea.
Excellent condition, measuring 9" wide (foot to foot) x 5 1/2" deep (foot to foot) x 5" tall.
