Large Top Quality Triple Layered Jewelry Box - Leather Covered C.1860

Description

A top quality English Jewellery box dating to around 1860, beautifully crafted all the way through. The box is covered in a ribbed black leather with gilded fittings including a carry handle to the top, the box comes with a working Bramah key, a lock of this caliber is only found on the best examples.

The interior is an absolute joy, lined in deep jewel toned purple velvet (the photographs read more a blue colour, but it is in fact a really deep purple colour). There are two removable trays createing three layers, plenty of room especially in this large size of box.

The quality again is evident with the top notch hinges and screw constructed brass inlay on the interior corners, quite exceptional, this box would have been an expensive piece 150 years ago.

Excellent condition, there is some wear on the sides of the box (see photos); measures 12" x 9" x 5".
