Antique French Solid Silver Gilt Large Etui Case with Engine Turning - 19th Century

Description

We are delighted to offer this stunning example of a large silver-gilt etui made in France during the 19th Century.The etui is composed of three pieces: the top lid, body and base cap which may all be disassembled.

The exterior and interior of the case are wonderfully gilt in a rich gold colour with further embellishments of engine turning/guilloché that reflects light magnificently.

This etui is rather large compared to the usual small sewing needle cases and allows for an array of items to be stored within. Today it may be used for ornamental purposes or any creative ideas such as storage of pills, mints, or small sewing tools.

A Minerva french silver hallmark is present on the side of the top lid.

CONDITION

Good Condition - The etui is in good antique condition, there is a fine hairline where the original solder point has worn slightly. This is shown in the last image. Please refer to the photographs to examine the condition in further detail.
