Convex Wall Clock By Henry Howes - Sudbury

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Its About Time

Henry Howes is listed as a watchmaker in several publications and books on Clock and Watchmakers. He was born in 1787 and can''t be exact but think he started making watches around 1820. It is unusual to do an internet search and not find any clocks or images of clocks made him. This leads us to the conclusion that maybe this was the ''Shop clock'' which he set all the Watches too. The clock is constructed of good ''choice'' mahogany and the cast brass bezel to house the convex glass is in excellent order. The convex dial is original, the hands are original, infact the whole clock is extremely original and a great example of a convex 12'' dial, fusee wall clock of the 1840-50 period. We have just completed a thorough service and overhaul on this clock (in-house) and it carries our 24 month guarantee. It''s worth mentioning that the brass movement plates on this clock are the thickest we have seen on Wall clock. Please scroll through the pictures to see the movement and different angle...
