A Large and impressive original antique French Gothic clock set, beautifully made in gilt brass, very heavy and crisply modelled and with much of the original gilding remaining. The style is typically French gothic, architecturally designed with lions masks, hairy paw feet, flowing foliage and surmounted by a bell. The body of the clock is fretted and modelled as a niche embedded in the overgrown foliage. The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging through the fretwork.

The matching candelabra are 6 light and the bases are modelled to compliment the design of the clock. Original snuffers sit in the central nozzles as finials to match that of the clock when not in use.

Dial is enamel on copper with a cast bras centre and blued steel hands. The hobnail bezel is fitted with bevelled convex glass.

Antique French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of of excellent quality. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes half-hourly on a bell. It has been fully restored in our workshop and is on excellent clean and running condition. The pendulum is a replacement. Click the video clip below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent, gilding is bright with a clean finish, there is some very minor wear and discolouration in places. The front feet of the clock and candelabra are a little distorted. The candelabra arms are slightly distorted. The dial is also in excellent condition, just some slight nibbles around the left hand winding hole.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
