About James Burrell Smith
James Burrell Smith (1822-1897) was born in London and was a landscape watercolour painter. In 1843 he moved to Alnwick, Northumberland where he was taught by Thomas Miles Richardson Snr.
He often travelled around the UK and Europe. A lot of his work was of English landscapes, but preferred to paint streams and waterfalls.
In the 1880s he created some engravings for The Illustrated London News.
He exhibited at Suffolk Street from 1850 to 1881.
