Wonderful Antique English Three Drawer Brass Telescope - Dated 1893

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

An unusual Victorian telescope made from wonderful polished solid English brass, which has just been professionally re-polished to gleam.

It's unusual due to the covering of the barrel with a black woven fibre and a string natural woven cord top and bottom with a tab integrated into each.

The lens has a brass cover and the eye piece has a little integrated shutter to protect the eye hole.

This example is lucky enough to have a wonderful engraving, having been presented to George D. Pelly and dated 1893 (this was purchased with another engraved George Petty, clearly the same person but with one engraving misspelled).

Excellent condition, measuring 6" in length extending to 16 1/2" in length.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
