Sampson Mordan Victorian Double Ended Silver Scent / Perfume Bottle Original Case

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

Made by the excellent silver maker Sampson Mordan, this exquisite and superior Victorian silver Perfume / Scent bottle is outstanding. Designed in cylindrical form, it features wonderfully crisp and detailed decoration. Double ended, one end screws and the other end is hinged and lifts off to reveal the original glass stopper. Both interiors are gilded beautifully and hallmarks are visible inside the hinged lid and also on the main body and to the removable screw cap, for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1898 and the maker''s mark for Sampson Mordan & Co. The condition is excellent.

To add to this is the really lovely original leathered case, in a gorgeous claret red with gold coloured pattern around the edge of the lid. When opened a lovely satin and velvet claret interior is revealed. This is in super condition (a small piece of material covering one of the hinges has become loose, which we mention for accuracy only).
