Description

A lovely chunky little Victorian locket in rolled rose gold. It's quite an ornate piece - the front is mounted with a ruby in a star-shaped setting, surrounded with fancy scroll patterns. The back, or front depending on which way you choose to wear it, has an engraved Aesthetic-style design of reeds or grass. The whole is framed between decorated handles and topped off with curved metal bars rising to a bail ready to hang on a necklace or charm bracelet.

The interior contains two glazed frames which could be used to house photographs or tiny keepsakes.

In very good antique condition, some surface wear consistent with usage over time and the gold surface on the top bail has almost completely worn away. The hinge (on the top edge) works perfectly and the clasp opens easily and closes firmly.

Size: The locket section is 2 x 2cm (almost an inch across) x 1cm deep. Total drop: 3cm.
