N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This superb example of an antique boulle clock has a fabulous “hour glass” shaped case.
The case then has a wonderful gilt bronze “cockerel” final to the top as sell as beautiful scrolling mounts to the front and edges. The sides of the case then have lovely brass panels, surrounded by shaped gilt bronze frames. The front of the case then has a further brass panel inlaid with mother of pearl and semi precious stones finished by a gilt bronze surround. Finally the clock is finished with four beautiful, shaped gilt bronze feet. There is a small piece of the mother of pearl missing.
The dial is then gilt bronze with a fantastic engine turned centre. It is then set out in black roman numeral with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has two lovely shaped hands as well as a domed glass set into a brass bezel which is push fit to be removed when winding.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a chain fusee example of the upmost quality that ticks away as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum, winding key, and travel nut.
It measures approximately:
13” / 33cm Tall.
7” / 18cm Wide.
3.5” / 9cm Deep.
