Description

A beautiful gem-set brooch in the typically rich colour of 15-carat gold. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.

The fantastic large tourmaline cabochon will draw the eye, whatever your outfit. The gorgeous fat gemstone is foil backed to increase its light-reflecting properties and has a kind of fishbowl effect, magnifying the tiny natural inclusions inside and gleaming in shades of pink and white.

In excellent antique condition.

Unmarked but tested as 15-carat gold.

Size: The brooch is 3.5cm long, the tourmaline measures approximately 1.2 x 0.9cm.
