A very looking writing box or writing slope from the first half of the 19th Century. Some use related marks of course but overall in good condition with good colour and bright finish. We have cleaned and rewaxed this and put a new beize on the base. It is a bit special this one in that it has a number of features many do not. There is a key but the lock does not seem to be operational but there is a new hide on the writing slope which has a space for an ink well and next to that space for pens. There is a pin cushion, use before staplers of course, in the storage space under the slope are two neat little drawers for your personal bits and pieces. Upon opening the top there is a drop down facia which is in front of another space for letters and notes. A feature that appeals to us is the pair of lovely little recessed handles. super little item that. This could easily have been a campaign writing box and if it could talk may well have many an interesting story to tell. all in all a bit ...
