Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The mahogany has a beautiful colour and a rich patina. The inlay is profuse, and so amazingly detailed, this must have taken an incredible amount of time to make.

There is a large and very impressive domed pediment, also profusely inlaid and featuring deep and exquisite carving. There are deep drawers at the bottom, solid wood lined with fine dovetailed joints, etched with the makers mark JAs Shoolbred. The mirrored doors conceal cupboards with hanging rails, hooks along the back and a tie / belt rack. There is also a shelved upper central cupboard. The door and drawers handles are beautifully crafted from brass and are a sign that the high quality runs throughout this piece.

We have just had this re-polished, it is in excellent condition for its age. It comes apart into five separate pieces for transport.
