19th Century Mahogany and Marble Wash Stand, in the Manner Gillows

Description

This is an exceptionally high quality mahogany and white marble wash stand.

I found this in a country estate covered in modern blue paint! but the quality was evident with the large porcelain casters and tall reeded legs. I just hoped we could restore it back to its former glory.

Thankfully we have managed to do just that and I couldn't be happier with the result. The mahogany still retains a very rich colour and the thickness of the veneer is incredible. I am so confident we would find a Gillows stamp hidden under the paint but unfortunately not. This takes nothing away from this piece though.

The marble is all original and other than minor age related marks it is in perfect condition.
