Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 17th Century.
The early 17th century carved oak herm, with a flower head and leaf capital, above a bearded man, looking forward, with a cape over his right shoulder, whilst his left hand holds a tapered and scrolled cartouche. The whole finished with a rounded plinth, from which rise flanking leaves.
Height 18 inches, 46cm.
Width 3 1/2 inches, 9cm.
Depth 2 inches, 5cm.
Date circa 1620.
